How is Alpbx supporting the UN 2030 agenda on sustainability?
The United Nations sets out its sustainable development 2030 agenda with 17 Goals. Alpbx recognises that our role is to support four of these goals within the production, delivery and management of our products. These are as follows:
- Goal 11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable
- Goal 12. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
- Goal 13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
- Goal 14. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development
Sustainable Human Fertility
Chemicals in plastics such as Phthalates and Bisphenol A have been researched as an impact on men's and women's reproductive systems (sources: "Count Down" by Dr.Shanna Swan & Low Toxicity of Polypropylene). Alpbx products are made from Polypropylene Copolymer which is free from Phthalates and Bisphenol A.
As Alpbx storage boxes offer lower plastic landfill impacts as they are extremely durable (7+ years)
Reduction of Single Use Plastics
When people purchase multiple items at a shop and then realise they don't have anything to carry them with, they naturally purchase a shopping bag and then throw it away after unpacking the items. Unfortunately, many shopping bags are still made of plastic. This example of a single use plastic approach maintains the situation where C02 emissions, landfill and other damaging effects continue.
A simple solution to helping our environment is to reuse our plastic items. Reusable plastic items need to be durable and long lasting products. Another type of reuse is to recycle our waste plastics for use in another plastic product such as materials for clothes.
Reusable Plastic Containers (RPC)
RPC-Pooling is a cyclic system that uses Reusable Plastic Containers (RPC) for transportation and presentation of goods typically fruits and vegetables. This significantly reduces CO2 emissions and landfill impact as RPCs are kept in use for typically 10+ years and then can be recycled. Once in the cyclic system (see image below) storage boxes are:
1. Food produce or other perishables can be sold in the retail store directly out of the RPCs.
2. When emptied, RPCs are checked & transported to a washing center
3. RPCs can be washed removing dirt, bacteria and other health hazards
4. Storage boxes are collapsed and transported to a farm ready for their next usage.
5. RPCs are then utilized by farmers to stack their food produce
6. A distribution warehouse stores the food produce ready for collection by retailers
Alpbx offers convenient durable RPC storage boxes that minimise the impact on the environment.
Sustainable Features of Alpbx RPCs
- 35% less CO2 impact (Source: German Lebensmittel-Zeitung)
- Up to 96% less damage (Source: reusable packaging europe)
- High durability 7 to 12 years lifespan (Source: reusable packaging europe)
- A single RPC replaces more than 120+ cardboard boxes!
- Humidity causes significant cardboard but not with RPCs!
Shipping Alpbx Storage Products
Up to 84% of space saved when using Alpbx collapsible storage boxes. This significantly reduces the amount of transport needed for distributing from our manufacturing facility in Turkey.
In addition, once in use they can be easily collapsed ready for transporting again. This is not necessarily the case for most cardboard boxes that are not designed to be repeatedly collapsed.
